Cynthia Martin, LMFT, CSAT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Sex Addiction Therapist.

Cynthia’s clinical interests include couples therapy, sexual behavior problems, trauma, anxiety, depression,  parenting skills, the integration of faith in the healing process, communication patterns and the role of the family in growth and change.

In her work with individuals, couples and families, Cynthia uses an integrative approach including Cognitive-Behavioral, Solution Focused, Structural and Emotionally-Focused practices to support and encourage clients to achieve their goals for growth and healing. Cynthia has also completed basic training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and incorporates those techniques to work with trauma and help clients develop a more positive self-concept. She places a premium on nurturing the therapeutic relationship and practicing respect and openness for individual and cultural differences.


She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education and Sociology from The University of Texas in Austin, Texas, and holds a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Mercer University School of Medicine located in Macon and Atlanta, Georgia.


During her graduate experience, Cynthia served as a therapist at the Mercer Family Clinic located at Piedmont Hospital where she provided individual, family and couples therapy to a diverse population addressing such issues as parenting, trauma, anxiety, depression and relational difficulties. She also served as a palliative care therapist at Atlanta Medical Center where she guided patients and families through difficult medical decisions including chronic illnesses and bereavement counseling.


She is a member of American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and Georgia Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
